Les deux moiti\u00e9s sont s\u00e9par\u00e9es, puis r\u00e9assembl\u00e9es pour former une \u00e2me plus haute. La poutre alv\u00e9ol\u00e9e offre une hauteur sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 celle de la section d&rsquo;origine, pour un poids presque identique. Son principal avantage est d&rsquo;augmenter la hauteur sans ajouter de poids. Elle am\u00e9liore fortement la capacit\u00e9 portante. Elle offre une plus grande capacit\u00e9 en moment sans acier suppl\u00e9mentaire. Elle convient aussi aux cas o\u00f9 la hauteur est limit\u00e9e.
