Prota at ASEP 2019: Exploring Structural Engineering for Infrastructure Resilience

The Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines (ASEP) hosted its annual event from May 30 to June 1, 2019, at Quezon City, Manila, Philippines. Themed “Structural Engineering for Infrastructure Resilience,” the convention drew over a thousand civil and structural engineers from across the country. This large-scale gathering focused on addressing the critical issue of improving infrastructure resilience against natural disasters, particularly earthquakes.

Prota’s Contribution: Advancing Seismic Isolation Systems Prota at ASEP 2019

Prota’s Mustafa Tan, Product Manager of ProtaStructure, presented a highly informative technical paper on Seismic Isolation Systems and Technologies. His presentation delved into the seismic retrofit of Basibuyuk Hospital in Istanbul, one of the largest buildings in the world to undergo a post-construction retrofit. With over 850 seismic isolators installed during a three-year construction period, the project exemplified cutting-edge seismic technologies and innovative engineering solutions. Mustafa’s presentation provided attendees with practical insights into implementing seismic isolation systems to enhance building resilience and safety.

At the event, Prota showcased the brand-new ProtaStructure at its Prota Asia booth, strategically located in the main area of the venue. Engineers from various sectors visited the booth to explore the software’s latest features, which include:
