Digital technologies gain attraction when their benefits are meaningful and sustainable for users. As a part of the digital transformation, BIM (Building Information Modeling) is an innovative and transformational approach to the architecture, design and construction industry.

BIM has been one of the most popular area of technological advance in the construction industry for the last decade. It is now taking place firmly in Ghana. As Prota, to share our experience about BIM and our structural design software solutions, we organized an event in Accra, Ghana with the support of our Ghanaian partner CaB Royale.

About ninety professionals attended the event which allowed us to share current and future trends across the dynamic architectural and structural engineering sectors. The event included talks on digital transformation, experience with adapting to new BIM technology and standards and the BIM structural design technology developed by Prota.

The first speaker of the event was the Chairman of GhIE (Ghana Institute of Engineering) Ing. Prof. Dr. Kwame Boakye. He stressed the importance of learning from Prota’s presence in Ghana and advised the community to contribute to Prota’s development with a focus on more localization to Ghana.

After the Chairman’s speech, the ex-president of GhIE and President of Women in Engineering Africa Mrs. Ing. Carlien Bou-Chedid took over. Mrs. Carlien Bou-Chedid talked through the latest global BIM practices and BIM standardization.

Prota Software’s Chief Technical Officer Altug Guler and Sales Engineer Çağlar Çubukçu also gave presentations on Prota Engineering solutions and Prota products. Guler discussed the latest developments on Prota’s automated detailing, drawing management & component design tool, ProtaDetails 2019. Cubukcu shared his experience regarding the integrated BIM design technology including the revolutionary ProtaStructure and how this is changing the way engineers efficiently design and deliver projects in an increasingly demanding and competitive business landscape.

During the final session, Abel Cudjoe of CaB Royale highlighted ProtaStructure and how fast, reliable and innovative structural design technology is changing the face of engineering project delivery.
